Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, Stephen's interest in animals led him to study at Massey University, where he graduated as a veterinarian. He then went on to practice in both New Zealand and Singapore. It was during his 5 years in Singapore that his passion for photography grew. From this point onwards he has never looked back, and has over the past 15 years developed an international reputation as a wildlife photographer.
Recently his photography has centred upon undertaking more extreme expeditions to some of the most remote locations in the world in order to photograph the widest possible variety of endangered species. These projects have taken him to every continent on the planet, and to experience every type of climate and terrain.
