Sebastian Kennerknecht is based in Santa Cruz, California, near the wildlife rich Monterey Bay. He photographs wildlife locally, but also does assignment work all over the world. His specialties include wild cat and endangered species photography. Using customized digital SLR camera traps he has built himself, along with conventional photographic techniques, extensive natural history research, and working closely with in-the-field biologists, he covers the whole story about an animal.
Since conservation is Sebastian's primary goal for his photography, he often works closely with wildlife organizations to improve their outreach potential. A perfect example of this was when Sebastian teamed up with the wild cat conservation organization Panthera to obtain the first high resolution picture of a Bay Cat in the wild. With this picture, public awareness of this species increased both locally and globally.
