Paradise Flycatcher (15) More files... by Cyril Ruoso
In the forests along major rivers in Madagascar lives the beautifully plumed Paradise Flycatcher. It challenges evolutionary theory because the male of the species comes in two contrasting forms which is a rare occurrence in nature. Cyril Ruoso documents the work of Dr Mulder who is working with researchers from the University of Antananarivo in Madagascar to test, in the paradise flycatcher, a hypothesis that traits like ornamentation and symmetry advertise a male's good genetic and physical health to choosy females seeking the best possible genes for their offspring.
