Northern Fur Seals (16) More files... by Yva Momatiuk and John Eastcott
St. Paul Island, the largest in the archipelago and home to nearly one million northern fur seals, is located within one of the world's most productive marine ecosystems. The Bering Sea provides vast quantities of small schooling fishes and squid needed by the seals. The island's shoreline offers reliable terrestrial habitat where fur seals of all ages have straightforward goals to accomplish, from mating to rearing young to simply surviving unscathed.
