Life in a Nutshell (17) More files... by Dr. Mark W. Moffett
With the fall of an acorn begins new life much mroe surprising than simply the growth of a new tree. A long-snouted acorn weevil bores into an acorn to lay a tiny egg where subsequently a grub emerges to feed on the rich nutrients within. Secondary invaders such as moths, caterpillars and ants make use of the nut as a food source and benefit from the shelter of its shell. Dr. Mark W. Moffett shows us how the rich bounty of an acorn sustains a great diversity of life in this intriguing story about life in a nutshell.Text by Dr. Mark W. Moffett
