Henguan Mountains (26) More files... by Mark Moffett
Long before environmentalism the sacred esteem that Buddhists hold for the Hengduan Mountains helped preserve the region's wildlife. Now secular law also protects species like the white eared-pheasant and the dover tree whose blossoms waft in the breeze like wings. Mark Moffett takes us to China to explore the diversity of this 309,000 square mile reserve which is rich with plant and animal life.
